Cold tempertures and Big News
COLD
Its a short word but it can chill to the bone. Its been dropping down to -25 here in Chamonix, it even made -13 in Gloucestershire which made the Saturday ride pretty damn unpleasant. But here in Cham its been nothing short or brutal.
I've been ice climbing in these temps with Kerrie, we have had lots of fun despite the cold and the bullet hard ice. When it gets really cold the ice turns like concrete and contracts making any hanging icicles or pillars quite dangerous...luckily we were doing nothing like that this week but we have hit some super cool routes in France and Italy....and still 2 days climbing to go!
There is some other BIG news out there.
I (Kenton) after 11 years have moved from Mountain Hardwear to a new principle sponsor, they are called Sherpa. Its a small company based in Kathmandu that makes some really great outdoor clothing, but more than that it's an ethically clean company, so much so that it makes Patagonia seem commercial, now that's saying something!! Tashi Sherpa who owns and runs the company wants to leave a legacy for the Sherpa people, and as you all probably know the Sherpas are very special to me.
I'll write a longer update about Sherpa over the weekend letting you all know all about it and where you can start to get the product.
So its going to be cold for a while longer it seems but hey, its still fun as long as you wrap up warm, the snow is still fab, the ice is excellent and the hot chocolate more welcomed then ever!!
Have fun and be Safe
KC
